Tension Mounts in Maryland

As expected, Maryland has joined the Internet sales tax legislation party. Legislation that could require out of state merchants to collect and remit sales tax has been formally introduced in Maryland. If passed, the Maryland Internet Sales tax legislation would take effect on June 1, 2010.

Virginia Introduces Internet Sales Tax Legislation

Earlier this week Virginia formally introduced legislation that could require out of state merchants to collect and remit sales tax. Senator Emmett Hanger, Jr. has sponsored SB660. It has been referred to the Committee on Finance; the committee  normally meets on Tuesdays and Wednesdays ( but may also meet on Thursdays for next several weeks).

Colorado Hearing Date

On Friday, Colorado House Bill HB10-1193 was introduced and referred to the Appropriations Committee. It has been reported to me that they will be holding a committee meeting on the 27. HB10-1193 has sponsors in both the Senate and the House of Representatives. Colorado Internet sales tax is inching forward.
