Motorcycles, Affiliate Summit and Heart

by Melanie on August 21, 2011

Although a bit muggy, it’s a beautiful morning here  in New York City. Taking a walk this morning I was greeted by the procession of thousands of motorcyclists making their ride in honor of those who died during the attacks on September 11.  Watching them filled me with many emotions, remembering those who are gone and  also those who survived. The men and women who ride in the 9/11 Motorcycle Ride, in honor of the victims of 9/11, do so not because someone makes them. They do so because they have to, it is in their hearts. I thank them for their tribute and for giving me pause to think.

I admit that seeing the cyclist ride by made me cry. I cried for many reasons. I remember those who are gone. I remember how I felt “back then” .  I remember how we all banded together to survive, to help one another. I cried because I was reminded that many still care, that we are all still united. You may wonder why I write about the motorcycle procession. What does this have to do with Affiliate Summit?

Those that ride do so because they want to honor those who perished. They do so to give back, not because they will get something in return.

As is tradition at Affiliate Summit and throughout the year, Missy Ward co-founder of Affiliate Summit and the founder of Affiliate Marketers Give Back, is conducting a fundraiser seeking to find a cure for breast cancer. Missy does this, not because someone makes  her do it. Missy does it because she has to,  it is in her heart.

I urge every attendee of Affiliate Summit East 2011 to give, even a small donation. Give something to others, not because you have to or because you will get something but because you want to help. (To donate, visit either of the sites in previous paragrap.)

The answer comes not from one, but from many. No one person holds the key.

Thank you Missy.
