Some more updates on some pending nexus legislation.
Georgia – HB 1221 and HB 1244 are introduced. These bills will be amended and will need to be carefully monitored. It is expected that at least one of these bills will modernize nexus definitions and include provisions requiring out of state merchants to collect sales tax.
Illinois – Hearing this Thursday on SB3353. Please contact me for additional information.
Maryland - SB824 is still in committee with no new information. Maryland is also holding sessions on their budget.
Nevada – Although Governor Jim Gibbons had instructed legislators to consider requiring out of state merchants to collect and remit sales tax it does not appear to be part of the budget drafted in the emergency legislative session which was finalized today (2/28/2010).
Oklahoma – Governor included Internet sales tax in his budget released last month. Still no bill number found.
