A few updates on some nexus and Internet sales tax legislation issues Affiliate Advocacy has been monitoring:
California ABX8 & SBX8 - Senate amended the original bill and then passed it. Sent back to Assembly who renamed the bill SBX8. It was amended and passed through readings. Now due for Final vote in Assembly (scheduled for Monday March 1) then will go back to Senate (since it was amended in Assembly).
Illinois SB 3353- Assigned to the Revenue Committee on 02/24/10. Continue to contact me for information on contacting legislators and others steps you take now. It is critical to take action now to voice your opinion on this bill. Affiliates should also contact me for suggestions on how to prepare their business model.
Vermont HB 661 – Currently, received a no vote in Ways and Means Committee. Therefore, potentially dead in committee. Need to continue to monitor since resurrection in another form is possible.
Virginia SB 660 – Laid on table by Finance sub committee via a voice vote. This means it is not likely to be back, this year in this present form. Legislators have already announced it will be reintroduced next year. As in other states, including Vermont mentioned above, ongoing monitoring is necessary.
