The Senate version of HB 1193 passed the Senate (vote 19-16), it now moves back to the House. Since the Senate amended the bill it will need to be approved in the House. If the House approves the changes it will be sent to the Governor. If the House disagrees with the Senate’s changes a joint committee will be named to come to an agreement.
The Senate version of HB 1193 differs a bit from the original so all merchants will need to determine how they are affected. If you recall the law will take effect March 1. Merchants should seek licensed counsel to ensure that they understand the impact of this law on their business. Remember only an accountant or sales and use tax attorney can give you counsel.
